News: amazon.com Trade-In of the Day
This morning I received a twitter message from amazon announcing their newest feature to their video game store, the " Trade-In of the Day. "
Found on the top right of their game trade-in page, this feature informs visitors about which specific game(s) that amazon is willing to buy at a rather higher than normal price- for that day only.
If you are in the market to sell your used games this might be just one more reason to sell to amazon seeing as how with their store credit you can buy anything, -not- Just games...

Oh gamestop, how you must want us to hate you
Nintendo Wii is doing what it can to achieve what it was originally advertised to do; utilize motion control for all of its games in a revoluntionary way. Sure while the Wii does use motion control for just about all of it's games ( except the good ones: Smash Bros, and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom ), the player still isn't able to act out motions exactly as they want to. Instead, the player always has to waggle the controller in a specific series of directions to accomplish anything desired.
Hopefully, Wii MotionPlus helps games be more accurate in decoding the motions that users are doing and properly reflects them onscreen.
Good news for Wii owners; the Wii MotionPlus accessory is only $19.99... or at least thats the price Nintendo suggest.

So what the fuck is gamestops deal ?! Here they have the same accessory listed at $24.99

Sure at first glance $5 doesn't look like much of a price hike, but take a closer look at the situation.
Seeing as how the Wii is a casual system that focus on group play, it is rather safe to say that the average consumer is going to purchase more than one MotionPlus unit.
Buying 4 units of MotionPlus at standard price would look like this:
19.99 x 4 = $79.96 plus tax ( if my math is correct ) is 86.35
Now looking at gamestops price of $24.99 ( thats a 25% price hike )
25% x 4 = 100% ( simple math ) means that if you buy 4 MotionPlus from gamestop, then you could have bought 5 units from any other respectable game supplier.
Doing a little research on this subject, I found a response from gamestop with an excuse for their price.
Leaky Battery stepped up to ask gamestop why they hiked the price, and this is the email response gamestop sent:
Being the truth or a lie, regardless it's simply just another reason not to support gamestop.

FINAL FANTASY XIV
Holy shit ! That came out of NO WHERE!
While watching Sony's conference they showed a video that had cinematic and game play footage from Final Fantasy 13.
-- cutting to some backstory from last year --
Now anyone who keeps up with video games at all knows that last year at E3 the biggest surprise and announcement was that Square-Enix would be releasing Final Fantasy 13 to the Xbox360, therefor taking away Sony's exclusive status.
However, as of this writing, "Final Fantasy 13 versus" is Still exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

Following the Final Fantasy 13 trailer, Jack Tretton talked of showing another Final Fantasy game that is only on PlayStation 3, so of course I ( like Everyone else ) instantly started thinking of "Final Fantasy 13 versus".

Easily this years BIGGEST and most unexpected surprise!
The trailer that was shown reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy 11, which brought joy to my heart, because I knew this was going to be another online installment to the series.
This is with out a doubt my highest hyped, and most anticipated title announced at this years E3.

GameBattles.com Street Fighter 4 Ladder Entry !
Today i decided to take part in the ladder over at gamebattles.com
Test out the waters and see how the competition is over there.
I was going to record the matches and upload them, but not knowing how long they were going to actually last and how long of downtime was in between each i opted to broadcast live using uStream instead so that viewers could see the match unfold in real time.
Unlike mos matches which are 2 Rouds per match = 1 game, these GameBattles matches are best 2 out of 3 matches composed of best 3 out of 5 rounds per mach.
So one GameBattles match up is actually several fights.
To keep it simple, to win you must defeat you opponet 6 times total.
I had always wanted to compete tournaments for street fighter in the past, so this is a good opportunity for me to get in some practice.
This being my first match i was eager to get started as soon as possible, so i looked around for an opponent who was currently online.
Ah HA! Found one !
A NEW CHALLENGER ENTERS THE RING ! !
My first match was against Team SQUAD SURGED. The player was Fantasysurge, his character of choice was Cammy.
I decided to go with Ryu, i felt he has more potential over Ken in certain situations.
At first going into this fight i was very happy to see that he chose Cammy, as i never really have any trouble against them.
- Until i met this guy. Ever mistake i made i was punished for with a combo i had not seen before.
Really i was unaware of some of the moves he was pulling off as i never seem them executed back to back or even at that angel.
To be honest the guy beat me really badly, it was hard for me to land what few hits i manged to get in on him.
This was good, i came across some play style i had never seen before, i was happy to see it so early in the ladder so that next time i might be more prepaid for it.
He offered to go again just for fun, i accepted.
He picked Ken, I went with Ryu again.
This time i fully understood the character he picked, so nothin he threw at me caught me off guard.
I beat his face.. too bad he didnt go with Ken in the real match D:
We parted ways after that.
As i returned to the site to record the match data for the ladder records, i noticed my inbox was blinking.
I have a Team Challenge ! ;o
A NEW CHALLENGER ENTERS THE RING ! !
I accepted and continued my journey towards the top of the ladder.
This time the team was= FAMILY BUCKET ; the player was= sixpiecewing
his character of choice was Sagat.
I went with Ryu for the first match.
To my surprise he didn't try to turtle at all o.O ( YESS! i told my self ! )
We battled it out like 2 barbaric men in the woods with spears... even though we werent actually in the woods, and neither ne of us had spears...
He took the lead with a victory of the first match.
I returned with Ken the second match.
I had an edge on him this time.
And it worked.
I gained a victory... my first gamebattles victory.
Now we go into third and final match.
He fought well, hit me with some moves i should have blocked but didn't because i was being stupid.
I hit him even harder, with moves he couldn't have blocked at the time :D.
I was doing very well.
Then he pulled ahead some and started to gain on me.
This last match would go into the final round to see who would take home the victory.
It was very close, but I did it. I managed to beat him up and knock his ass out!
Today i earned my first victory on gamebattles.com street fighter 4 ladder !

PSN: Home Chamber Apartment To Be Free May 14th-21st
During the time period of May 14th-21st Sony will have a new Home living space free to download.
The Chamber Apartment will have a waterfall, fire pit and a tree with a face that follows you.
Even if you don't use home, its worth logging into to get free loot.
At least then you'll have it for later if for some reason you'd need a virtual living space for your residual self image thats trying to extinguish its own fire while staring at you like a pervert.
