Gaming Status Update - 2/4/2010 [ inFamous ]

Just to catch things up a bit, I have been playing a LOT of PS3 single player games since my internet connection has been ~very~unstable~ lately.

So first on the agenda is inFamous.
Considering how much hype this game had from all the Sony fanboys I'm positive that everyone knows what this game is, and somewhat the gameplay and story plot - so I'll skip all that and just say a few things that I feel like sharing.

I recommend collecting all the shards ( what a dreaded task ~_~ ) on your first run through on the game on the 'Hard' difficulty. For being the games' hardest difficulty, it actually isn't all that bad, and in fact makes the bosses more fun ( in my opinion at least ). Also, getting all the shards on 'Hard' makes sense because you'll probably need the boost to your energy bar, whereas in Easy mode collecting all the shards to boost your energy would have just been overkill and a waste.

The story twist at the end is kinda weird and I was sorta expecting somewhat of a different ending depending on choosing Good and Evil, however all I felt that I ended up with is just a mess of things and a hint at a sequel. - Go figure :/

For what it's worth inFamous is a fun game, with good character control and battle mechanics.
The plot is kinda out there, but that is ok since they were shooting for the comic book style anyways.
The characters feel kinda distant, which I find odd since you character Cole grows in the direction you take him. I'm just being honest I never really felt that attached to any of the characters.
The graphics are kinda standard, but when I look at other games ( on either console ) I realize they could be worse.
I would recommend getting this game at a used/discounted price, or just renting it. It isn't a very long game, and after you beat it as each choice of Good and Evil.. well that's all there is to it.

Over all I would give inFamous a 7 out of 10

Oni Con 2009

A little late, is better than never lol.

Oni Con 2009 was pretty cool. I had to admit for being my first anime convention it was pretty fun even though I had no idea what I was doing lol.
Our group ( Tiffany, Alyssa, Stephanie and my self ) went as characters from Pokemon.

Me and Tiff went as the main protaganist[ Ash and Misty ] and Alyssa and Steph went as the main 2 rival antagonist characters [ Jessie and James ]. The later are also know as Team Rocket.

Tons of people stopped us randomly and asked if they could take our picture, it felt really to have so many fans of our costumes.
The following images are pictures we found online ( so far ) that other people have taken and then uploaded them selfs, thanks to google we were able to hunt these down.

We found the game room, and my eyes light up when I found STREET FIGHTER 4

And now here are 2 replays of me playing some Street Fighter 4 with a couple of people at the convention.

At the time of this writing I still play Street Fighter 4 almost daily and I continue to keep very high interest in the game, waiting for Super Street Fighter 4 gets me excited to think about more characters and strategies to explore and utilize.

This morning I received a twitter message from amazon announcing their newest feature to their video game store, the " Trade-In of the Day. "
Found on the top right of their game trade-in page, this feature informs visitors about which specific game(s) that amazon is willing to buy at a rather higher than normal price- for that day only.

If you are in the market to sell your used games this might be just one more reason to sell to amazon seeing as how with their store credit you can buy anything, -not- Just games...

Oh gamestop, how you must want us to hate you

Nintendo Wii is doing what it can to achieve what it was originally advertised to do; utilize motion control for all of its games in a revoluntionary way. Sure while the Wii does use motion control for just about all of it's games ( except the good ones: Smash Bros, and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom ), the player still isn't able to act out motions exactly as they want to. Instead, the player always has to waggle the controller in a specific series of directions to accomplish anything desired.
Hopefully, Wii MotionPlus helps games be more accurate in decoding the motions that users are doing and properly reflects them onscreen.

Good news for Wii owners; the Wii MotionPlus accessory is only $19.99... or at least thats the price Nintendo suggest.

Sure at first glance $5 doesn't look like much of a price hike, but take a closer look at the situation.
Seeing as how the Wii is a casual system that focus on group play, it is rather safe to say that the average consumer is going to purchase more than one MotionPlus unit.
Buying 4 units of MotionPlus at standard price would look like this:
19.99 x 4 = $79.96 plus tax ( if my math is correct ) is 86.35

Now looking at gamestops price of $24.99 ( thats a 25% price hike )
25% x 4 = 100% ( simple math ) means that if you buy 4 MotionPlus from gamestop, then you could have bought 5 units from any other respectable game supplier.

Doing a little research on this subject, I found a response from gamestop with an excuse for their price.
Leaky Battery stepped up to ask gamestop why they hiked the price, and this is the email response gamestop sent:

FINAL FANTASY XIV

Holy shit ! That came out of NO WHERE!

While watching Sony's conference they showed a video that had cinematic and game play footage from Final Fantasy 13.

-- cutting to some backstory from last year --
Now anyone who keeps up with video games at all knows that last year at E3 the biggest surprise and announcement was that Square-Enix would be releasing Final Fantasy 13 to the Xbox360, therefor taking away Sony's exclusive status.
However, as of this writing, "Final Fantasy 13 versus" is Still exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

Following the Final Fantasy 13 trailer, Jack Tretton talked of showing another Final Fantasy game that is only on PlayStation 3, so of course I ( like Everyone else ) instantly started thinking of "Final Fantasy 13 versus".
Jack Tretton spoke the words " Final Fantasy 14 "

Easily this years BIGGEST and most unexpected surprise!

The trailer that was shown reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy 11, which brought joy to my heart, because I knew this was going to be another online installment to the series.

This is with out a doubt my highest hyped, and most anticipated title announced at this years E3.

GameBattles.com Street Fighter 4 Ladder Entry !

Today i decided to take part in the ladder over at gamebattles.com
Test out the waters and see how the competition is over there.

I was going to record the matches and upload them, but not knowing how long they were going to actually last and how long of downtime was in between each i opted to broadcast live using uStream instead so that viewers could see the match unfold in real time.

Unlike mos matches which are 2 Rouds per match = 1 game, these GameBattles matches are best 2 out of 3 matches composed of best 3 out of 5 rounds per mach.
So one GameBattles match up is actually several fights.
To keep it simple, to win you must defeat you opponet 6 times total.

I had always wanted to compete tournaments for street fighter in the past, so this is a good opportunity for me to get in some practice.
This being my first match i was eager to get started as soon as possible, so i looked around for an opponent who was currently online.

Ah HA! Found one !
A NEW CHALLENGER ENTERS THE RING ! !

My first match was against Team SQUAD SURGED. The player was Fantasysurge, his character of choice was Cammy.
I decided to go with Ryu, i felt he has more potential over Ken in certain situations.

At first going into this fight i was very happy to see that he chose Cammy, as i never really have any trouble against them.
- Until i met this guy. Ever mistake i made i was punished for with a combo i had not seen before.
Really i was unaware of some of the moves he was pulling off as i never seem them executed back to back or even at that angel.
To be honest the guy beat me really badly, it was hard for me to land what few hits i manged to get in on him.

This was good, i came across some play style i had never seen before, i was happy to see it so early in the ladder so that next time i might be more prepaid for it.

He offered to go again just for fun, i accepted.
He picked Ken, I went with Ryu again.
This time i fully understood the character he picked, so nothin he threw at me caught me off guard.
I beat his face.. too bad he didnt go with Ken in the real match D:
We parted ways after that.

As i returned to the site to record the match data for the ladder records, i noticed my inbox was blinking.
I have a Team Challenge ! ;o
A NEW CHALLENGER ENTERS THE RING ! !
I accepted and continued my journey towards the top of the ladder.

This time the team was= FAMILY BUCKET ; the player was= sixpiecewing
his character of choice was Sagat.
I went with Ryu for the first match.
To my surprise he didn't try to turtle at all o.O ( YESS! i told my self ! )
We battled it out like 2 barbaric men in the woods with spears... even though we werent actually in the woods, and neither ne of us had spears...

He took the lead with a victory of the first match.
I returned with Ken the second match.
I had an edge on him this time.
And it worked.
I gained a victory... my first gamebattles victory.

Now we go into third and final match.
He fought well, hit me with some moves i should have blocked but didn't because i was being stupid.
I hit him even harder, with moves he couldn't have blocked at the time :D.
I was doing very well.
Then he pulled ahead some and started to gain on me.
This last match would go into the final round to see who would take home the victory.
It was very close, but I did it. I managed to beat him up and knock his ass out!

Today i earned my first victory on gamebattles.com street fighter 4 ladder !

I thank Capcom for not charging a penny for this DLC update to their amazing installment to the series.
Although, i guess this is a nice way to make it up to me by being so cruel to my street fighter addiction in my younger years....... D:

Whelp I tried to make a few extra bucks by adding Googles AdSense to my site.
Over the past few days I realized that I need not to milk pennies off of my friends clicks.
In fact I should be giving! And giving is what i shal.
So more content is on the way.

Ok time to be honest.
Google shut me down. They tracked all the clicks and pretty much summed it all together them selfs.
Not many people goto this blog.
40 page views a day at most, 200 ad clicks....

For a long while now I have been pretty fed up with the console wars discussions.
Mainly because of how Stupid and unthought out each and every comment tends to be.
I'm wondering if people are so insecure that they feel the need to explain why their Opinion is so much needed to be heard that they have to Bash anyone who opposes them to justify the game or system they chose to buy.
As if their underdeveloped feelings and lashing out sporadicly will do anything other than fuel more flame.

I don't even think it was cool at one point, and it's even UNCOOLER now to have this console war style comments poured over every video, post and blog entry.

Any creditable reviewer is just that... A CREDITABLE REVIEWER!
If for any reason you disagree with the review don't read it, don't watch it, don't send the link to your friends fine.
But under no circumstance should a person throw a hissyfit over a review because of something that WAS NOT STATED IN THE REVIEW.

so street fighter 4 is out now and i must say i am very pleased with it.
ive been to 1 tournament so far at a local game store and i placed 2nd. which isnt too bad, i guess.
ive been practicing since then trying to get better and cover my weaknesses.
after a week of practicing i went down planet zero to meet some real hard core players.
this was my first time at this arcade and i got to play against a lot of very talented players. my old strategy was quickly ripped apart and i slowly began to develop a new play style that seems to be a bit more effective.

after being gone so long from my blog i return with videos of me playing street fighter 4.

i hope this apeals to someone out there D:

SO yeah the WoW expansion is out and i've been playing that trying to hit 80.
But then my friend comes back to ffxi and we have been doing nyzle isle and shit every now and then so i'll post about those on here.
But then I finally got my ps3 back from my friend because im finally getting my own hdtv <3
GTA4 now supports trophies so im gona go nuts trying to get all of them now lol.

Anyways ill post some stuff soon when i actually have something really worth talking about, this is just a heads up on whats going on in my gaming life

I havent been on final fantasy in a while, so im just going to turn this into an all purpose gaming blog i think.
since ive been on warcraft ill toss an update about what i did on there recently.

since the new patch has been added ive been trying to get all the achievements i could.
so when i saw a group of 80 people trying to kill the 4 horde kings to get the epic bear mounts , hell ya i was in like flint.

so after leaving for a few months i come back today.

i was excited to come back to my drk, so the first thing i did was start to exp it.

i seeked for about 12 seconds and didnt get a party. so i took matters into my own hands and time travled to the past... 20 years into the past.

i fought and fought and died and fought and casted mage and fought until finally

durring the duration my day of champain i noticed that someone new ring that was better than my own
dis-pleased with this news i took the first route back to bastok to change jobs to my redmage/ninja
i now seeked the ring that would give my drk the ultimate power he desires

i equiped my haste gear, my evasion gears, and even my acc/atk gears.
nothing can stand in my way now.

BEFORe i even Leave bastok i get a tell from some random person

at first i thought some poor chump was trying to sucker me into having to cure
so i asked...

Now for those of you who are retarded beyond the IQ of a rock and havent realized who i am yet
i am a melee mage.

now i dont claim to be the genious who first decided to stand on the front lines and smash the targets face in with a sword
i do however, take credit for taking redmage/melee mainstream
my first quest to 75 took place as a rdm/drk
when parties asked me what subjobs i had, i answerd truthfully with drk, and nin
i leveled all the way to 75 with just those 2 subjobs.
over the course of time i have thought about unlocking and leveling whm and blm.
people always tried to explain to me their uses.

its not that i didnt belive them.. i just always knew that if i dared go downt that path, then one day i just might get jew-d into having to main heal for some scrubs
fortunatly for me i was ahead of the game and knew better
fortunatly for me i knew red mages true secret ultimate power

see... red mages were given sword skill for a reason.
because its SKRILL, that means its Real fucking Skill

real ultimate power lays within the swords and the spirits of the red mage.

ive been missing for a few days!
so where have i been?
no where really ~ !

but today i start a new adventure...

having never really beat this game before, i will take on the challenge of playing thru the game with out level grinding or using a guide to find all the treasure.
i will play thru the story line at a normal pace, and will document my new adventure with pictures and videos

BCNM and Pop set NMs !

Ariesol, Quach, Blue and I tried yet again for the kraken club via the BCNM
I wasn't really expecting a drop but i still gota try or else i cant get one x_x

drops for my orb:

we did like 4 runs or so, no one really got any good drops but the everything went really smooth, which is good for future runs.

Next was POP NMs

today we did alastor antlion for our mages !

i found out this fight is a little harder than i thought
the main problem about this fight ist that the antlion has En-Petrify, which makes keeping hate a bitch since im just standing there doing jack shit lol..

we had a lot of pop sets but we toasted the NM rather fast so it didnt really take that long to get them all done.

KIRIN !
Our linkshells first kirin set, well actually we arnt a sky shell, nor do we do any sky farming at all.
this happend to be my personal kirin set that i had from when i lead TeamSubligar
in the old shell, we farmed up lots of god pops and killed lots of gods... but we never got big enough to actually kill kirin, so ive had some pop sets for a while collecting dust.

in imperial we schedualed a linkshell event for my and alastors pop set.
as it turns out we were both after w.legs, the rule for this event was that the pop set owner got to pick 1 drop on kill, and the ls would get the rest.

so today i had the day off from work so i went to camp aspid.
today is a high chance of hq so im pretty excited.
however we ran into a slight problme, no one can remember the correct ToD lol..
from the looks it if, we wernt the only ones, as no one else really attempted to sneak /invis to camp it. instead all of the other shells were camping in the middle clearing out the place - the whole time - somthing they did not do at previous camps.
then suddenly in the middle of the zone

The first linkshell event that took place since the addition of me and bluefrost was Einherjar.
I was pretty excited, I had done some Einherjar in the past, before the nerf. However, it wasnt very successful. Despite my previous failed attempts I was high spirited about this group and this run.

Our mobs ended up being the kraken type.

Tentacle Rape Hentai, anyone? x_x

Actually this monster type was in our favor since sleepaga seems to be more reliable than lullaby.

IT didn't take too long to kill off the first wave. In fact we didn't suffer much death either. this was the first time i actually killed off all the mobs on the first pull. i had expected a second wave or something. from what i read on the forums there are NMs and 2nd and 3rd waves or some shit.
As for us, we just went for the boss next.

It was hard for us to find a way to kill the boss. We had our PLD and NIN kite it and had BLM try to nuke it. The AoE really hurt us bad. It was hard for our melee to find a way to deal DPS fast enough to kill the monster with the given time limit without getting them selfs killed in the process.

We ended up getting the boss to 20% before timing out.
For being the linkshells 2nd run it wasn't too bad, definitely looking forward to the next run.

So me and bluefrost went fishing for my cor af quest~

the quest item can only be fished on a boat ride from white gate.

we chose the route to nashmu- when the boat arived we started to see the same glitch o.O

kinda funky lol.

so we get on the boat and start fishing.

Lo and Behold!

this isnt the quest item, so what imporntance does it have?

this is why
that fish requires lv 41 fishing.

It has been a long while since I posted anything ._.
The main reasons the blog has been lacking... TeamSubligar broke and I took a break from the game.

After my break I came back and joined a hnm shell.

The leader talked shit about bluefrost and then kicked her, for things that were completely untrue.
I left the shell because of that shorty after getting an item i wanted.
Now im tagged as an oppertunist and loot whore by my own friends and they wont let me in their shells.

Just recently i got accecpted into Imperal and i have motivation to play the game again

Nyzul Isle Assault. - First group on server!

We were the first group to entere this assault on our server!

At first we all picked up the runic disk. make sure everyone picks this up. its for saving your progress.

Check the rune of transfer and it will tell you what the objective is. it appears to have different objective each time on each floor- check it so that you know what to do and arnt wasting time.

i tested to see if teh ramparts are like in salvage, where they spit out monsters in hope to get a NM.

i found out, they do not. or at least the ones we fought didnt spit any monsters out.

when your objective is met the rune of transfer will start to glow and allow you to jump to the next floor.

we came accross our first NM on the 2nd floor

or NMs instead of items droping in the treasure pool, items are in chest that pop after the NM death. who ever opens the chest revieves a ??? item.

found and fought one of the new monster types~ nothing too too special about them but i think they *might* drop new items for crafting new armors and junk.

we fought a beefed up version of Jaggedy eared jack as our 2nd NM

the ramparts seemd to have been on each floor

this room seemd to have a garden/plant theme to its monsters, so i dunno if there is a possible pattern or if it really is just random

time ran out but this was in the first room of the 5th floor - too bad we didnt get to kill it D:

over all-
its fun as hell, the rooms arnt too big.
you can will get tons if diff types of crystals ( yay crafters )
the mobs give xp and gils
and the drop rates on NMs are too early to tell how well they are.
the bigger NMs that have more than 1 drop im interested in seeing how the chest work. ( i wonder if vclaw AND ring both are possible to get from serket. in 1 kill etc )

So the first night some nubby JPonry ls claims KA with 3 people ( one of which was a lv50 lolpld ) after 20min they faild to destory the notorius king crab.
KA decides hes had enough of this shit, went SSJ4 and wiped their poor pt.
ThSlayer snags the claim with shadowbind and we proceed to duo the little guy.

So today we were in sky doing our normal farming, when someone spotted some RMT heading to Seiryu.
We get the idea to sneak up behind them and watch them to see what goes on.
Surely the gil sellers were not really attempting to awaken the mighty god ‘Seiryu’… they have enough trouble killing half the shit they bot claim to begin with.

We made our move and snuck up the teleport and then hid behind the trees.

After waiting a while we made our move to reveal our presence !

The RMT were so amazed by our majesty that they felt compelled to perform an ultimate act of generosity and handed over us the god they were fighting.

Tonight we did some KS99s - The horns of war.

Horns of war

For some of us it was the first time to take part in such a fight. I could tell early on though it was looking good. Had a feeling about it, like i was standing in a room with winners.
This was one of our first events as a new linkshell. A good chance for us to learn to work with each other and face a higher level of monsters.
I think we each did a good job defeating the beast. Things went smooth for the most part, and we took control of when things got bumpy.

everyone and their brother showed and wouldnt shut the hell up. had to have been a hella lot of search whoring going on, folks showed up from LSs that i havent ever seen camp that thing. it was rediclious, retarded and just.. awful

tonight we headed over to cape terrigan to do some manta fishin . nikoloi, gamblore and i where the crew tonight for the fishin adventures
started off with a few claims which was nice but no drops wich was terrible
got some weapon skill points on my dagger which made the night not a total waste.
we did manage to steal a claim on the manta from the fucking gil sellers ! woot! lol
and they then turned around and started shouting that we were gil sellers... pft.. go fuck your self you RMT fag

we eneded the night by raising Itai , a fallen member whos xp pt left for dead.. poor guy.

Ancient Goobue ;o

So we went down to the boyhada tree to check on the acnient goobue and sure enough he was up. Gregdor guy needed teh great katana of doom from this crazy high ass level monster so we all pitched in an effort to go help him out. while we were taking our time gathering to gether and what not another group arived at the HNM sceen ready to take it on.

so this other group decides they are gona go for itl and claim the NM
the thfs start off kiting the goobue with the thfs and nuking with the rdm and blm while the whm does the curing. after a while the rdm died a few times and i saw the whm and blm go down. a thf went down also but they were making decent progress but dieing a lot while at it.

after a while they lost claim and had most of their pt in weakend state, so celv went for the voke to claim it for us.. being a lv 60ish pld vs a 80ish HNM... needless to say he went down fast lol.. /cheer

i casted gravity and then stun and started kiting it my self while nuking. honko started helping me with the nukes after this. just in time jussy comes in with voke and flash to get some hate off us which helped a lot. i took the chance to chainspell thunde3 followed with a convert and then honko got the kill. woot congrats..
the other party was like wtf nubs you stole our kill... x_x
wtf are you serious... you were all fucking dead.. and it was unclaimed.. you wiped no way could you kill it.. idiots x_x

so like tonight we did some sky farming and shit. i got lost again... as always x_x
bleh who needs directions when you a bad ass /strut
decided to skill up dagger once i was there, the ls kept asking for cures and shit and im just dude wtf is cure i am rdm, i can do some refresh maybe, and some melee but youd get your ass kicked asking for cures man.
a while later i pulled a trick on the ls when i got bored. i ran off to an area away from the group by my self and then pretended i saw some big fucking monster and started shouting it aggroed me. and then i used convert which brought me from 1100ish hp to 52 hp instanly D: ... i had them all thining i got hit HARD lol.
Zip finaly poped and we fought it, it was quite a battle actually. cant remember what all really happened but we only had 1 whm and 1 tank... who died mid fight lol. we some how managed to kick its ass with our rng and brave drk. worked out well we got a pop item while the other group got 2 waters Rawr!
- later that night -
After the sky farming i seeked on pld ( lv 33 ). got a pt invite from phynx ( some random nub thf ) so i took the invite and headed to bastok where all my equipment was stored in my moogle house storrage space. while on the airship i noticed an addition to the pt named velio x_x i told the pt leader to kick that nub or else id leave the pt ( joking ofcourse ) but i did make it seem real that i wouldnt allow my self in pt with that nub. a little while later i get a tell from velio going WTF?? and then i relized the pt leader really did it, she kicked taht poor bastard out of the pt LOL ( got you good fucker! )
so i told the party leader to invite that nubcake back and that i was joking lol
got that bastard back in the pt and we were off to xp
sometime later i got lv 34 and then got about half way to 35 before i decided to goto bed
its 3am... good night

seeked for a little when i got on today, kint was ready to go before i was. travled to bastok to do somthing but i forgot what x_x
a little later delite gave me a tell asking for pt, i was like hell ya dude. warped back to jeuno and delite filled up the rest of the pt. decided to goto boyhada tree today, felt like beating the shit outa crawlers and shit. we get to camp alright, excecpt for trinitie the dark knight somehow dosent notice she lost sneak and aggroed a ton of those black mandies that will kick your ass faster than you can say fawk me. so we tractor her ass to camp and raise1 her since we have no whm... it was funny because right when she raised up a 75 whm just passsed us. (Thats too bad) this was when i took a moment to look at her and notice she was wearing af, and i thought to my self aww shit are you serious :/ maybe it was just for looks i dunno but she looked gimp lol.

we get to our first fight, and the gimp drk uses souleater and pulled some hate, and holy shit what does she do next.. *bam* blood weapon. wow x_x she fuckin freaked out and used her 2hr, way to go idiot. oh and she was still in af so .. yeah im starting to get the picture, not only does her gear suck but shes an idiot as well. she had thf sub for sata, which i think she should have just kept it simple with war sub because i dont think she landed sata correctly once the whole time.
delite wasnt too pleased with the drk and nor was i, we were really really close to replacing her gimp ass with my brothrs thf , but we couldnt find a way to break it to her that she sucks with out worring shed go hang her self x_x

after 9k exp i get my level up :D
got to equip my praefectus gloves and evasion torque , thats 12 eva skill. on top of my evasion merrit D:
i cant wait to xp rdm again, im like 1k til next merrit and ill be able to slap my 2nd eva merrit on @_@
